If you're looking for a relaxing holiday and wishing to explore the area either on foot or bike, then La Maison de Lavaud may be just what you're looking for. Ideal also for those wanting to discover the local wildlife or to do some fishing, it is also a haven for migrating birds.
Situated in a small hamlet close to the village of St Quentin sur Charente in the beautiful region of the Charente in South West France. Our gite is situated within a 2 acre garden, which is partly fenced although not fully secure. There is a terraced area for table, chairs and bbq, a plunge pool with decking area for sun loungers, a gazebo where you can relax overlooking the lake while having a cool summer drink and a car port for parking, with an area for relaxing. Our garden and plunge pool and private and are not shared.

Notre gîte est situé dans un jardin de 2 hectares, en partie clôturé mais pas entièrement sécurisé. Il y a une terrasse pour table, chaises et barbecue, un bassin profond avec terrasse pour chaises longues, un belvédère où vous pourrez vous détendre avec vue sur le lac tout en prenant une boisson fraîche en été et un abri de voiture pour le stationnement, avec un espace de détente. Notre jardin et bassin profond sont prive donc ils ne sont partages avec personne.
Situated in our garden is a 1958 Fouga Majester french fighter jet aeroplane, once used to train fighter pilots and then part of La Patrouille de France.

The martyred village of Oradour-sur-Glane has been left as a reminder of what happened on the 10th June 1944. There is a museum available.
The chateau of Rochefaucauld is said to be one of the most remarkable castles in France because of the quality and diversity of its architecture and features a masterpiece of a 16th century spiral staircase. It is well worth a visit and there are also some very good restaurants closeby.
A visit to Rochechouart is recommended, not just to visit the chateau but also to explore the lovely town with its narrow cobbled streets and interesting shops, cafes and restaurants. During the summer there are night markets.
Situated near Chassenon, the roman baths features as one of the most preserved archaelogical sites in Europe. Situated within 15 hectares experience a real journey through time. Something for all the family.
On the far side from the Lac de Lavaud, you will find the Lac de Videix, where you will find a lovely beach with paddle boards/boats to hire and snack bars and restaurants. Perfect for families looking to unwind.
Travel back in time to the village of Montrol Senard, where you will be able to see how the locals use to live over 100 years ago. Start at the school where you'll be able to pick up a guide to the village and explore. There is also a lovely restaurant and cafe and crafts available from local artisans. Definately worth a visit.
